June 2007
Linda and David Morgan, UK

“We would be delighted to provide you with information about our holiday. We have nothing but praise for Great Lakes Safaris, both for their helpfulness throughout and their flexibility in planning our itinerary.

We had a rather unusual plan for our holiday, in that, as well as touring the game parks, we wished to see and meet Ugandans on the ground as much as possible, and also we wished to end our holiday by being taken to Gulu, where our daughter is working as an NGO. Great Lakes responded to this by including a 2-day visit to a farm in the far south-west, near the Tanzanian and Rwandan borders, and by agreeing to drop us off in Gulu, rather than returning us to Kampala.

We visited Lake Mburo, Queen Elizabth, Kibale and Murchison Falls National Parks, in addition to Nshenyi village referred to above. All this was achieved in an 11-day itinerary, at a very reasonable cost. Our driver (Edward) was fantastic. He was not only one of the best drivers I've ever come across either inside or outside of Uganda, but he was also very friendly, and most knowledgeable about all the wildlife, including the rich variety of birds we saw. He also had phenomenal eyesight; even when the road he was negotiating was particularly pitted and rough, he still managed to catch sight of birds and game a long way of, which we would have missed.

Altogether a most positive, enjoyable and educational trip. I'd recommend anyone to go; Uganda is a truly beautiful country. We look forward to returning.”

"Thank you so much for a great trip. I had so many misconceptions about Uganda but like Renier said 'to truly know Africa one must move away from the city and find out who the real people of a country are'. And with the help of Africa Within, I am glad I got the opportunity to do so. It was an experience I will never forget. I learned that the quality of ones life out ways the quantity of ones wealth, and the beauty that surrounds them makes the people of Uganda so much more beautiful. Thank you Uganda and God bless!"

"We are back from our trip to Uganda and we just wanted to let you know that our 3-days safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park was a fantastic experience. We would like to thank Great Lakes Safaris for the way everything was arranged; our driver/guide Suleyman was a very nice person, calm and a good driver (which is rare in Uganda!). He had extensive knowledge and we were happy to have him as our guide during the three days.
We will certainly recommend your company to other people interested in travelling to Uganda. Again, thank you very much!"

“Now we are already more than three weeks back at home. Our films have been developed, so we’ve got a lot of nice pictures to help us to keep this interesting and impressive journey in our memory.

We both were very content with the way our safari has been carried out. Our driver Beki was always in time, his driving was good and adapted to the conditions. We never came into a dangerous situation. Despite the bad condition of some the roads and repeatedly long hours of traveling, we never felt exhausted.

Concerning the accomodation, we had opted for the simpler one. Altogether we have no complaints. Everywhere it was clean, and the sanitary facilities were correct, too. On other journeys we had sometimes experienced simpler rooms, therefore we were pleasantly surprised of the facilities and the condition of the accomodations. From our point of view, the „Rwenzori View Guest House“ in Fort Portal was the best accommodation. Also, the„Buhoma Community Bandas“ was tiled-floor in the lavatory and showers (with warm water) were far better than we could expect.

The recovery period at Lake Bunyonyi was somewhat short. We arrived there in the afternoon. We had enough time to do the canoeing on the lake. But since we had to leave already in the next morning, we would suggest to stay there an additional day/night.

We hope that we'll be able to visit Uganda again, perhaps in 4 or 5 years. In any case we will contact you and your company in due time when this dream might become real. Thank you very much for the beautiful safari tour through Uganda."
