CHOGM in Uganda
Years of preparation preceded this special event. And
in November Uganda was finally ready: on 21st November Her Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth II, along with other members of the Royal family
and delegates, were warmly welcomed in a festively decorated capital
city. A total of 48 representatives of Commonwealth countries, including
36 heads of government were present to attend the 19th edition of
the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
During
the three-day summit, attention was drawn to various topics, including
climate change, youth development, HIV/Aids and globalisation and
trade. The conference ended with a closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
Uganda can proudly look back at hosting one of the most successful
CHOGM meetings ever held and creating a memorable visit to Uganda.
One that will linger on forever...

Highlights of 2007
Although still a few more weeks are remaining, we can look
back at a successful year, full of safaris, pleasant interaction
with clients and happy customers. And for those who haven't had
the luck yet to visit this beautiful country, we hope that 2008

Our great
highlights of 2007 are:
Expansion of the fleet
The vehicle plays a major role in one's safari and should always
be in a perfect state of condition. In the course of the years,
we have carefully selected and expanded our fleet of safari vehicles,
highly valueing their space, comfort and above all safety. Including
the new acquisition of this year, Great Lakes Safaris currently
owns three Minibuses and five Land Cruisers. All vehicles are 4WD
and featured with large windows and a safari roof, making sure that
you will not miss anything of the scenery!

A new web address has been added to the list of sites that are already

Visit of international filming crews
This year Uganda has been visited by several crew members of international
TV companies. Great Lakes Safaris had the honour to host their safari
and ensure that all expectations would be met and exceeded. Highlights
of the trips were among others the amazing waterfalls in Murchison
Falls National Park, the gorillas in Bwindi, the chimpanzees on
Ngamba Island, the cultural centre Nshenyi Village and of course
our sparkling capital city Kampala.
Films were
broadcasted across the African continent and in different European
countries. For our Dutch readers we can already make a small revelation:

Opening Primate Lodge Kibale
The star of the highlights of 2007! After months of hard work in
construction, renovation and design, Primate
Lodge Kibale opened her doors in July 2007. Since
then already many guests have enjoyed a memorable stay in Kibale
Forest, from journalists and tour operator employees to tourists
from all over the world. And still developments are going on, to
