Only
23 Km south of Entebbe, in Lake Victoria you will find an island.
This island has something magical, something beautiful and something
that other islands do not have. This island is currently a home
to 44 orphaned chimpanzees and this island holds the very own Chimpanzee
Sanctuary in Uganda.
If you are willing to be part of such
an amazing project and if you are willing to contribute to the wellbeing
of these chimpanzees we advise you to visit Ngamba Island.
• Get to know the
story behind this project.
• See
where the chimpanzees are living and see how this
island has become their home away from home.
• Be able to see the feeding
of the chimpanzees from the visitors platform area
along the edge of the sanctuary fence.
• Have the possibility to spend
a night at the island in a private
tent overlooking Lake Victoria.
• And if you are willing to spend
more time on this island book an overnight stay and look into the
possibilities of an early morning
forest walk with the chimpanzees.
• As well
bird lovers will enjoy their time here (154
species recorded).
• Kayaking,
swimming on the equator, visiting a neighboring
fishing village or
just time to relax
is all possible at Ngamba Island.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee
Sanctuary is managed by Chimpanzees Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation
Trust (CSWCT). Rules and conditions apply when visiting this island
and its sanctuary and we kindly refer you to their website
for more information.

Unfortunately
we currently do not have any guaranteed permits on offer. However,
with 9 habituated gorilla families living in Bwindi National Park
you are almost ensured of available permits on your preferred tracking
date!
If you are interested in tracking the
gorillas in another period, do not hesitate to contact us and we
will be happy to check for you the current availability. Permits
can be booked in combination with a tour to other national parks,
completely adapted to your wishes. But book early as competition
is high!

In
August 2011, we had the pleasure to host Gerdine van der Beek and
Rob Stuiver from the Netherlands on a safari trip to Queen Elizabeth
and Bwindi Forest National Park. This is what they say about their
trip:
“Thanks so much for a wonderful
safari experience. We had a great trip, saw gorillas, lions, buffalos,
elephants etc. The trip was well organized, the lodges were OK (in
line with expectations). Our guide Abasi drove very well, also considering
the poor roads we encountered....
The best trip was the gorilla track! The rain didn't matter, it
was a fantastic experience. Local guides were also very friendly
and helpful.
All in all we had a very good trip, thanks a lot!”
