Budongo Forest Reserve is one of the larges forests in Uganda, with an incredible biodiversity including 9 different primates, 360 species of birds and 290 different butterflies. The 825 square km reserve is located within the boundaries of Murchison Falls National Park.

Budongo Eco Lodge, also known as the Kaniyo Pabidi Ecotourism Site, is situated in the heart of Budongo Forest Reserve. The eco-friendly lodge provides comfortable accommodation and a wide choice of activities in the midst of the natural beauty of the forest. It is a perfect place to relax and be surrounded by the peaceful tranquility of the forest.

The lodge features five intimate eco cabins located privately throughout the forest. The cabins are spacious and provide a twin or double bed and sitting area. Each of them has an en-suite bathroom with shower and eco-toilet and a private veranda overlooking the forest. In addition, there are four dormitory rooms with two double deckers in each room (max. 4 people) and shared washing facilities.

The eco-friendly lodge also has a restaurant on site, inviting guests to have a refreshing drink before or after their forest activity. A variety of meals are served on the terrace while you can enjoy the sounds of the forest that encloses the lodge.

At the visitor's centre you will find a lounge area to relax or read a book. It also displays different animals skeletons, fossils and snares that were removed from the forest. The Craft Shop offers a small yet nice selection of indigenous Uganda crafts.

A well developed and extensive trail system of 115 km is found throughout the forest, which enables a variety of eco-tourism activities. Enjoy a guided primate walk in search of the chimpanzee community or spend a full day in the life of the chimps with our Chimpanzee Habituation Project. Budongo Forest is also paradise for birders thanks to the extremely high density of birds and rare species like the Chocolate-backed Kingfisher and Paradise Flycatcher. Budongo Forest provides all ingredients for an exciting jungle experience!
