Kibale
Forest National Park harbours the greatest variety
and concentration of primates found anywhere in Africa. Not
less than thirteen different species are living in this tropical
forest, including human’s closest relative, the chimpanzee.
Opened
in July 2007, Great Lakes Safaris invites you for a stay at
our new Safari Lodge in the middle of this
wonderful forest! Whether you bring your own tent, prefer
to stay in middle class accommodation or wish a high level
of luxury and comfort, Primate Lodge Kibale is the place!
Our
luxury tented camp consists of eight deluxe
safari tents in African style. They are raised on a wooden
platform, offering a splendid view at the surrounding forest.
The private situated tents are featured with a spacious veranda,
comfortable twin beds and en-suite bathroom with shower.

After
waking up with the sounds of nature, follow the natural walking
way to a spacious open restaurant where a delicious breakfast
will be served. The restaurant provides local and international
cuisine. Adjacent is a well-stocked bar and cozy lounge to
spend the afternoons or evenings pleasantly. Or gather around
the unique fire place where you can over think the adventures
of the day.
But
this is not all! In addition to the luxury tented camp, we
also offer recently renovated, comfortable cottages.
They are privately situated in the forest, with their own
veranda, spacious bedroom and en-suite bathroom. The adventurous
travellers are welcome to spend a night high up in our unique
Sky Tree Hous, with a magnificent view over the elephant
wallow. Finally, a well- maintained campsite with shared washing
facilities is available for backpackers who want to bring
their own tent.
Obviously,
the local community is highly involved in different areas,
ranging from the supply of local products and employment,
to providing handmade crafts and cultural performances.
The
most important activity in the lodge's surroundings is of
course the chimp trekking, offered in the
morning and afternoon. The young among us can enjoy a guided
nature walk while being educated and entertained by experienced
ranger guides. The habituation experience will give you the
opportunity to come face to face with the chimps in a very
special way. Moreover, a nocturnal walk will
be organized where you will go in search of the bushbaby and
potto at night.
