Day
1: ARRIVAL
Arrival at Entebbe Airport where you will be welcomed by
a Great Lakes Safaris representative and transferred to
your accommodation in Entebbe. Overnight at Airport Guesthouse.
For upgrade you can stay at The Boma.
Day
2: ENTEBBE - KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
In the morning we will depart the capital city and head
west to Fort Portal, with lunch en route. Fort Portal rests
in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon and is
famous for the many tea plantations. From this lovely town
we will continue to Kibale National Park. In the evening
we will join a night forest walk and go in search of the
bush babies, pottos and other nocturnal animals. Dinner
and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale cottages.

Lodge Kibale.
Day
3: KIBALE FOREST & BIGODI VILLAGE
Today the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimp
tracking. Kibale Forest is reputable of having the greatest
variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa.
Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in
search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white
colobus monkey and many others.
After a hearty lunch we transfer to Bigodi Village for a
totally different walk. Accompanied by a guide who can tell
you everything about the traditional customs and lifestyle
of the inhabitants, you will follow the village path and
visit a primary school, Catholic church, traditional homesteads,
learn about the crops and listen to the story telling of
a Mzee (elderly man). This walk is an initiative of the
inhabitants of Bigodi Village and the revenues are shared
by the community. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge
Kibale cottages.
For upgrade you can stay at the safari tents of Primate
Lodge Kibale.
Note: instead
of the chimp tracking and Bigodi Village Walk you can also
opt for the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience.
This project offers you the unique experience to join the
ranger guides in their research program and spend an entire
day with our 'cousins'. You will watch the chimpanzees starting
the day by climbing out of their nests and while following
their daily activities, learn more about their way of life
and have them habituated to human presence.
Day
4: KIBALE FOREST - QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast we calmly transfer to Queen Elizabeth National
Park while we pass the crater lakes area, a beautiful landscape
with small lakes and rolling hills. Have lunch and relax
before going on a game drive in search of the first wildlife,
including warthogs, buffaloes, waterbucks and elephants.
Dinner and overnight at Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge.
For upgrade you can stay at Katara Lodge.
Day
5: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
The day begins early when we start with a morning game drive
and head to the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs. We search
for lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in
their natural habitat before returning for lunch. In the
afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel,
a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks
to the abundant birdlife that is sighted, and the elephants,
buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at
the shores, this cruise will definitely be one of the highlights
of your safari. Dinner and overnight at Queen Elizabeth
Bush Lodge.
For upgrade you can stay at Katara Lodge.
Note:
instead of the morning game drive you can opt for a visit
to Kyambura Wildlife Reserve for a guided primate
walk. Kyambura is a beautiful gorge completely
covered with tropical rainforest. While following the river
at the bottom, you will go in search of chimpanzees and
other primates that live in this area.
Day
6: QUEEN ELIZABETH - BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast we head towards the south, passing the southern
sector of the national park (if road conditions allow).
This part is called Ishasha and is famous for the tree climbing
lions. After a short game drive in this area we continue
to Bwindi. While driving through a verdant countryside,
you will pass traditional homesteads and enjoy panoramic
views. In the afternoon arrival in Bwindi National Park,
home of the endangered mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight
at Buhoma Community Rest Camp.
For upgrade you can stay at Mahogany Springs.
Note: Buhoma
Community Rest Camp is a basic accommodation run by the
community members of Buhoma Village. All profits are shared
with the local community. Alternatively, you may opt to
overnight at Gorilla Conservation Camp.
This accommodation, that features simple but spacious safari
tents, is part of the Conservation Through Public Health
and the camp fees support the project. During your stay
a tour to the CTPH Gorilla Clinic is included.
Day
7: GORILLA TRACKING
The highlight of your safari: a meeting with the gentle
giants of Bwindi! Expect to walk a long distance in steep
and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before
you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile
as you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest.
A unique and unforgettable experience! Dinner and overnight
at Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Day
8: BWINDI NATIONAL PARK - ENTEBBE
After breakfast we depart the impenetrable forest of Bwindi
and head back towards the capital city. Look out for zebras
and impalas as the road leads us through the protected area
of Lake Mburo National Park and take some photos at the
Ugandan equator. With lunch en route we will arrive in Entebbe
in the evening. Overnight at Airport Guesthouse.

Day
9: DEPARTURE
Enriched with an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable
memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa. In
time you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport for your
international flight.

This
safari supports Eco-Tourism in Uganda. The included accommodations
have been carefully selected, based on their contribution
to sustainable tourism. Your stay will directly benefit
the local communities and conservation projects. The funds
from the tracking permits are used for the protection of
the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees that are living in
Uganda's rainforests.
